Who am I?

My name is Patrick and I’m an event photographer. Online mostly known as "PingWing".

Currently 34 years old, living in Almelo the Netherlands and love to go to bass parties.

I’ve always had a deep passion for music and have developed multiple hobbies related to this since I was a young boy. Throughout my childhood I have been a drummer, really making me appreciate the rhythm of music, feeling out the beat and how tracks evolve.
As I became older, I started getting more and more into tech, studying IT and generally having less time for drumming, I started to produce electronic music at home.
This made me discover so many new artists and before I knew what I was getting myself into, I bought a ticket to see Skrillex in his prime 2011 Dubstep era in Amsterdam.
My first “rave”, opening my eyes (and ears) to a whole new world. From that moment on I’ve never stopped going to bass events around the Netherlands. Mainly following my favourite genre “Drum & Bass”.

Besides these musical hobbies I’ve unknowingly ignored another hobby of mine for years; PHOTOGRAPHY!
From the moment phones started getting camera’s I’ve always tried to find angles, framed my pictures and searched for the right lighting. While friend and family were always making a quick snap at popular touristic attractions just to be able to say “see, I’ve been there”, I took my time. Getting that “here we go again” look from them has never stopped me from taking the best photo I could of the subject.
Before posting I always did some post-editing on the pictures, even if they were just for my private collection and personal social media.
The thought of getting an actual camera has gone through my mind many times, always thought that I needed more purpose than just the vacations I made or the daily things I do.

Then in 2023, my brother started organizing clubnights in a city near me and told me about all the amazing people and lovely moments that happened during his nights.
Then it clicked, I want to capture those moments! I want to be able to tell these stories visually! Having told my brother about this plan, he was very excited and immediately invited me to start out at his clubnights to gain some experience.
So in early 2024 I bought my first camera including a lens for low light conditions. In February of 2024 I had my first gig; “Miauw queenright: My kinky valentine”. It was an incredible experience to visually represent the party for the ones who couldn’t be there or the ones who want to relive the great night they’ve had.

So here I am today, combining these 2 passions I’ve always had with me, coming full circle during the photography opportunities I get the pleasure of capturing.
